Big 12 Power Rankings: Bedlam Rivals Still 1-2
Guest poster Derek Duke is back for his second week of Big 12 power rankings.
Another college football Saturday has come and gone yet again. After all the excitement that happened this past weekend, you’re probably a little bit bummed to be back at work this week. No worries my friend, I have exactly what you need to cure your Monday blues.
From 10 to one, I have a Big 12 power ranking to get your week off on the right track.
10. Kansas (1-9, 0-7) Trend: Down
After yet another loss, this Jayhawk team is still winless in conference play since 2014. Some of the Kansas faithful have already accepted and moved on to basketball season. (Next up: vs. Texas).
9. Iowa State (2-8, 1-6) Trend: Up
Head Coach Matt Campbell finally gets his first Big 12 conference win of the season. Even though it was against Kansas, this has to make some of the Cyclone fans happy. After finally tasting some success, Campbell will need to keep that momentum this weekend against Tech. (Next up: vs. TTU)
8. Baylor (6-3, 3-3) Trend: Down (You can put a fork in this team)
Prayers out to Seth Russell and I wish him a healthy, speedy recovery. Unfortunately, his team is in serious trouble and I am not sure if this program has the ability to turn things around. In my opinion, it is time to move on from the past and look toward the future. (Next up: vs. KSU)
7. Texas Tech (4-6, 2-5) Trend: Down
Coach Bro finds himself in a sticky situation once again. Texas Tech has two games left and they have to win out just to become bowl eligible. (Next up: @ ISU)
6. Texas (5-5, 3-4) Trend: Neutral
Charlie Strong lost this past weekend, so that means he is fired right? Texas has let another season slip away and the only thing left to play for is their head coach’s job. The good news is that they play Kansas this weekend. (Next up: @ KU)
5. TCU (5-4, 3-3) Trend: Neutral
TCU did itself a favor this past weekend by not playing and jumping up a spot in my rankings. Now that the Frogs have had some rest, they will have a big test this Saturday to try to get bowl eligible. Gary Patterson will be yelling a lot this weekend in Fort Worth, win or lose. (Next up: vs. OSU)
4. Kansas State (5-4, 3-3) Trend: Up
Bill Snyder took a long nap last Saturday, so his team took the week off. Now he and his magic wand will head down to the land of the lost in Waco. (Next up: @ BAY)
3. West Virginia (8-1, 5-1) Trend: Up
After a huge win in Austin, some may wonder if Dana Holgorsen knew that his team actually won after this display. The bigger question is how many red bulls will Dana drink when Bob Stoops rolls into town? (Next up: vs. OU)

2. Oklahoma State (9-1 I mean 8-2, 6-1) Trend: Up
Does Mike Gundy Still have a mullet? Yes. Is OSU still winning? Yes. At this point I am not sure which is growing faster, Gundy’s mullet or this team’s confidence. (Next up: @ TCU)
1. Oklahoma (8-2, 7-0) Trend: Up
After some early setbacks, the Sooners have been red hot in conference play. Oklahoma hasn’t lost a Big 12 game since early October of last season. Got to give some credit to Bob Stoops and his staff. Their next game will have a huge impact on the power rankings for next week. (Next up: @ WVU)
