Boone Pickens: ‘We’re a Long Ways From 12-0’
Boone Pickens made the media rounds on Thursday and had some great stuff to say. It’s clear he’s buying in to the message Mike Gundy and his team are putting forth. That it’s no time for anyone to get ahead of themselves.
“We’re a long ways from 12-0,” Pickens told the Dallas Morning News on Thursday. “When we decided we were going to be competitive — and we have achieved that — I said there would be a day we would win the BCS. At 87, I’m running out of seasons to get there. Sure, the sooner the better. It would be fabulous if we did. I’m not sitting here on this Thursday afternoon thinking we’re going to win the [College Football Playoff] this year. But it could happen.”
Yes it could.
Pickens went on to say that he doesn’t think a 11-1 Notre Dame has a shot at getting in the CFP over 12-0 Oklahoma State which I’m hopeful he’s right about. He also joked with CBS about how OSU is finally using his offense.
“This year is the first year they used my offense. My offense, is ‘win.’”
There’s also a hilarious bit from Gundy in that CBS article talking about his own offspring.
“I don’t do as good a job with my kids as I should,” Gundy admitted. “But they’re still out there. They have to work … There is some sort of resemblance of what this country was made of … more so than every other kid is getting in the city, in my opinion.”
Tractors for everyone for Christmas!
