1 - Number of career left-footed punts Quinn Sharp now has. A pretty incredible feat really. Pun intended, yes.

4 - Consecutive games Joe Randle has gone over 100 yards. The first Big 12 RB to do so since Kendall Hunter in 2008.

199  - Joe Randle’s new career high for rushing yards in a game. Old high was 152 against Baylor last year.

16 - Yards per catch average by Charlie Moore (yes, that’s the spring game Charlie Moore we all heard about!)

6 - Number of catches Charlie Moore has this year (oh).

1 - One more lateral on that last play and I would have needed one new heart to continue breathing.

2 - Sacks given up by OSU’s offensive line against “the greatest defensive line in the history of the Big 12.”

2 - J.W. Walsh moves into a tie for 5th place on the all-time list with two 300-yard passing games. Yes, seriously.

36 - The third most points OSU has ever scored against Texas in 27 tries (38 last year, 42 in 1997).

0 - Number of Justin Gilbert/Brodrick Brown interceptions this season.

10 - Number of Justin Gilbert/Brodrick Brown interceptions last season.

4 - #4 is number four in the country in passer rating. Yeah we bench top five QBs at Oklahoma State.

659 - OSU still ranks #1 in the country in yards per game, 58 ahead of Baylor.

22 - Straight games of 30+ points, longest in the nation. I don’t see that getting stopped this year.

  1. 1 – number of times OSU has finished in the top 5 in the conference in “total defense” under Miles or Gundy (’09)
2 – number of times OSU finished in top 4 of “total defense” in the Big XII under Simmons (#2 in ’97).

    • Top Scoring D in the Big 12 (vs Ranked Opponents) – OState

Quit being a whiner and Cowboy Up. Or if you’re a Horn, go suck on some Zebra Balls.

      • Too bad not everybody on our schedule is ranked?

      • by “cowboy up” do you mean give a 10 yd cushion on 3rd and 5 and hope it works after it hasn’t worked for 11 years? How was what i typed whining? just stating facts. Not a horn fan and way to class up the joint with your Zebra balls comment.

  2. Since 2000, in “total defense” the pokes have finished 8, 9, 8, 6, 10, 11, 9, 10, 8, 4 (woohoo), 8, 7 (out of 10 teams), and so far in 2012 we’re sitting in 6th place out of 10 teams.

  3. The Gilbert/Brown numbers are so, so painful.

  4. Besides Randle making some of the Texas defenders look like 8th graders, I was probably most impressed with Sharp’s left footed punt. Seriously.

  5. I feel like an idiot now for talking about how good our DBs were going to be this year… what happened?

  6. after the starters stop an opponent on 1st and 2nd down (primarily because barnett and castleman clog the middle and get a decent push–allowing no passing lanes between the tackles) young puts in the “prevent” defense with 1 inside player (bassett) and the offense creates lanes for the QB to see through the size of I-35 and bassett and the 2 ends (whoever is on the field) are basically held at the line of scrimmage. after 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 0r 8 seconds, the qb finds a wide open receiver after his 5th or 6th or 7th move (where deon sanders could not still be with the receiver) and completes an easy pass.

you go bill. one of these years it is going to work. (i do not include the other team imploding and fumbling and throwing multiple interceptions for no known reason).

    • Larry, I hate to say it, but you make a very valid point. I noticed that too, and it drives me crazy about our defense every year. Another valid observation is that the DBs play too far back on 3rd and short situations, giving up an easy short pass right on the marker.
