I’m a little surprised that your are “embarrassed”. The guy just isn’t a golf fan. That’s okay. I half expected him to be a crazy, homer redneck. I believe you are over reacting. It’s ok for people not to like every sport. It’s actually normal. Most people aren’t crazed sports enthusiasts. They pick a few that they can watch on the side while trying to cope (and hopefully enjoy) the daily grind of their lives. I don’t agree completely with the guy but I found him very well spoken and I’m actually proud to have such an eloquent sports fans in the state of Oklahoma. I hear way too many people only being able to blurt out “Boomer Sooner!!” as a rebuttal to a sports column. It’s good to hear someone actually put together a full paragraph of interesting thoughts.
Actually Geoff those people are only capable of yelling “Boomer” or “Sooner”. None of “those” individuals can handle both of them together.
I agree the guy is well-spoken but he’s also oblivious to the sports world outside of what is happening in OKC. He doesn’t have to like golf, baseball or cricket, but don’t complain to a sports columnist for writing about an event as significant as the US Open. Just read one of the other 100 columns on the NBA Finals.
Just to comment on the “embarrassment” comment. Personally I hate golf and think baseball is boring. I get you like to highlight both because you think they are important. I generally just skip over everything you write about golf.
I guess what I am saying is that sometimes you get on a golf and baseball high horse a bit. It’s never enough to keep me from coming back to the blog, but I personally always just skip those articles.
I don’t disrespect those sports or the people involved, I’m just not interested and I think that is basically what that guy is saying.
Is anyone else pissed that the Arizona game is being televised on the Pac12 network? I assume this means no games will be on tv until we play UT. What a crock.
