Must read of the day on Alex Elkins. (Scout)

This is kind of a “yeah, duh” idea, isn’t it? I mean, does anybody think we’re not going to do this? (NewsOK)

It looks like if you live in Jacksonville, you’ll get to see Justin Blackmon this year! (Times-Union)

Devein Hedgepeth, the Kansasan that got away. (Bring on the Cats)

OSU wrestling will head to MSG this winter. (okstate.com)

I don’t understand the Orlando Sentinel’s obsession with Stillwater… (Orlando Sentinel)

  1. Tramel is such a genius. Just looking for an excuse to say OSU is copying off of UO’s short-yardage office scheme.

I agree with your post — “Duh”

  2. Ummm… yeah, count me as one who wonders why we would use Walsh in short yardage situations.

First of all, does Tramel know how big Walsh is? The dude is small. He isn’t in Blake Bell’s universe. Unless you have a Blake Bell on your roster, you’re wasting your time with the wildcat crap.

Second, Jeremy Smith was fine in short yardage situations, especially in the diamond.

The ONLY reason we would do this is to keep Walsh happy and hopefully keep him around. That’s it.

    • I guess my point is that Walsh is going to be on the field in the same way Zac would have been on the field had Weeden been the QB when he was there.

He’s not a backup QB (he might not even be a QB anymore) and Chelf fits the role nicely. I think he’s going to have the ball in his hands a lot this fall.

      • I got ya. Just don’t like that Tramel was some how comparing Bell and Walsh and that Walsh could do the same sort of thing Bell did last year. I agree we’ll see Walsh some how, some way though

      • Gotta disagree. I don’t think he is enough of an athlete to warrant the ‘get-him-on-the-field’ treatment. I think the only way he is seeing the field a lot is if Lunt goes down (god forbid) or under-performs (god forbid part 2). But I would not be shocked if we see him occasionally (once every 3 games or so) to throw the defense off.

  3. Tramel also forgot to mention that OU stole OSU/Holgerson’s diamond in 2010.

  4. What Nate said.

    • +1… I’m still mad about the 2010 Bedlam game in which OU ran the diamond on us several times with sucess and we didn’t even try it on them once.

On the whole Wildcat/Walsh thing, I’d have to agree with Pat Jones, who was on the radio talking about it this morning. Basically if you have a person who is gifted in that regard, then yeah, sure, you find a way to work him into the system, but he’s not, and I’m not, sold on it being Walsh. As Nate said, Walsh isn’t huge like Bell or Klein, so just having an extra guy sitting around doesn’t necessitate working up a new offensive scheme. We have Smith, Roland, and Staley who are all capable of bruising it in on short yardage situations, but as we all know, that depends more on the O-line than anything else.

  5. Did you see the comments of the K-State article banging on having to live in Stillwater for 4 years? I grew up in Stillwater, went to college in Manhattan (not at K-State) and I can tell you they are the EXACT SAME TOWNS! Seriously, it’s like a parallel universe. I’m not sure how you could look at Stillwater with distain and love what you see out your window.

    • LOLOLOL at those comments. I realize the towns are similar, but the students (coeds, namely) & fans are not. You can go to school with beautiful OK & TX females or be around a group of individuals who love windbreakers more than ANY other group of people EVER.. I’m looking at you 1980′s & 1990′s.

  6. Man that Simms kid had the perfect name combo. It’s a shame we won’t be cheering him on at OSU. He shouldn’t be playing football at any school for awhile.
