Is OSU now wide receiver U? (Tulsa World)
Tracy Moore has deceptive speed. (NewsOK)
Haha, let’s give Wes Lunt a nickname. (CRFF)
Good stuff here from Slater on OSU’s trip to Spain. The five that started every game is the five that’ll start the season I think. (NewsOK)
Three guys on the Big 12 all-name team. (ESPN)
A look at Weeden’s great night against the Packers. (NewsOK)
Brad Edwards made a list of the top five coaching trees in the country. Gundy is probably #6. (ESPN Insider)
Blackmon’s contract guaranteed only if he doesn’t get suspended. (NewsOK)
NFL scouts tell Robert Allen they’re going to be scouting Wes Lunt in the future. (Scout)
Isaiah Anderson likes to golf and cook. (NewsOK)
Disagree with this list from Ubben. OSU does have something to prove, but they’re the defending champs, that’s what their moniker should be. (ESPN)
Hmmm, Austin Hays > C.J. Curry? (okstate.com)
Great article here on Weeden’s second preseason game. (Plain Dealer)
Zac had a nice night too. (NFL.com)

Getting a little carried away with the word “great” are we, pistolsboy? 12-20, 118 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT and 3 drives that led to field goals is probably in the “pretty good” range for a preseason game.
I still lean towards Tailback U over Wide Receiver U. Bell, Morency (RB position was dormant in 2005), Savage, Hunter and now the Randle/Smith combo. This year we don’t know who the big WRs are going to be, but it’s rare that we ever question the RB position.
*pretty decent
*not like last week
*better than Colt
You’re right though, “great” was strong.
Yes…thank you for clarifying…
Gotta keep you as rational as I can
I think you might be forgetting a few key RBs in your evaluation of ‘Tailback U’
I forgot to mention I was only going back to the beginning of the century
I know it’s only preseason, but I have to think last night was the first time ever two OSU QB’s played in an NFL game on the same day.
Some potential Lunt nicknames…
Lunt-inator (obligatory nod to Phineas & Ferb)
The Lunt-sling 3000 (obligatory nod to Wu Wu Wubbzy)
Wes “Blaster” Lunt (every time I see him in pads with no helmet, I keep thinking of the dude that the midget [“Master”] rode around on in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.)
Wes “Insert the appropriate Monken quote” Lunt, such as
*”I’ll be stunned if he’s our starter.
*”dog-cussing the crap out of him”
*”the other guys haven’t shown anything”
*”Does he have a moxie?” (this was actually about Chelf, but like it. BTW…what is “a moxie?” I thought it was just “moxie.”)
*”he really still doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
Wes “I wish I had someone with a DUI to throw to” Lunt
Wes “f**k SI’s top 25” Lunt
Wes “I’ll throw fewer picks than Landry” Lunt (nod to Gina Mizell at NewsOK)
Wes “My receivers don’t wear dresses” Lunt
That’s all I got for now. Work beckins…
Nice.
I’m beginning to think Ubben, in addition to being an OU homer, is also a Longhorn lover. The only thing that qualifies them as a sleeping giant is that they are still asleep. And BTW…If Landry Jones could stay at OU for, say, 2 more years, would he still be a preseason Heisman candidate each year? Seems like if you are the QB for USC or OU, you are almost automatically on this list, kinda like OSU is always on the “has something to prove” list.
Remember that “worst defense in the B12″ last year that had Landry for a light snack? That defense that even the national sportswriters admit “might be somewhat improved in 2012″? I wish Landry could stay for 2 more years; we’ve got his number. Gundy, being a fellow OSU alumni, will not pull the starters against OU if we get ahead….he “knows” what that particular game means.
WORST DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY!!!!
What’s up with the “Isaiah Anderson is the fastest guy on the team” mention in the NewsOK article. Isn’t it a given that Gilbert has that title…I would love to see them race.
Also, Brodrick names Shamiel Gary as the breakout defensive player for the Cowboys this year. All eyes on you @sgary_7
James Thomas agrees. Btw, what he is doing these days? Anyone know?
Sounds like Seales might be the best receiver in the freshman class….athletically anyway. It’s too bad Harrison couldn’t keep his crap together.
That battle between Seales, Curry, Hays, and Sheperd is going to be le-GIT.
Is CRFF really a site anyone checks anymore? What a dumb idea for a blog post.
Kyle obviously doesn’t think it’s dumb…at least I don’t think so. And one of my articles posted there made the daily bullets recently, and it was not dumb. Maybe you should just say Kyle is dumb for including it in his bullets?
Assumptions in your posted reply to my reply: #1 Kyle doesn’t think the post on CRFF is dumb (you at least recognize that above), #2 I somehow, therefore, thought your submitted article was dumb, and that #3, I should just call Kyle dumb.
Never said anything was “dumb” other than the idea for the post on CRFF for giving Wes a nickname before he’s even called one snap in a college football game by a bunch of OSU fans on the internet. But your assumptions (again, your assumptions) have proved me wrong. Your attempt to start an argument over the internet fails because I already contend that “you win”, and are much smarter than I.
Nice…very witty and condescending…if that was your intent, at least admit to poor wording. Not a big leap for most intelligent folks to make from “Is CRFF really a site anyone checks anymore? What a dumb idea for a blog post” to “the stuff on that site is dumb and irrelevant.” Given your response, I will accept your contention that I am smarter.
And yes, it was stupid for me to even engage, as you are obviously, as we all are, entitled to an opinion, which was all you were stating.
Yes, again you win…and the fact that you travel to places like China with a man “from the cloth” and reside in Owasso, I would have expected more.
Think you might have me mixed up with someone else, unless that is a “reference” I’m not getting…wouldn’t want that other person saddled with my bad reputation.
I heard a nickname for Lunt that I kinda liked – “Wild, Wild” Wes Lunt – gunslinger, cowboy themed.
And yes, the WR battle will be awesome. It’s a really fun problem to have.
The question is, how many see the field against Savannah St.?? 9? 10?
Couldn’t be here fast enough.
I like Wild Wild Wes!
