love the story on bill young. why listen to criticism when you have the best defense in the Big 12? when you consistently take hyour best 11 off of the field on 3rd down? when you have stopped opposing offense on 1st and 2nd down by clogging middle and not allowing clear throwing lanes BUT show your true defensive genius by putting in your smallest defensive end at NT to allow the other team to create throwing lanes the size of I-35 (for either a run or throw? when you have seen an opposing QB run for 1st down for 3 stright series and then on the next series, get to 4th down (and 11) and drop your LB’s 25 yards down the field to run into each other (because no WR within 25 yards) so the QB can convert? when you cannot get a third down stop for TWO YEARS with that concept BUT show your conviction by continuing to call it? If i was that smart i would not listen to criticism either. oh wait, i would get fired. signed, broken record, broken record, broken record.
I don’t think the point is that Young doesn’t listen to criticism or advice, but that he doesn’t listen to it from people like you or me. He has other coaches to listen to, and he has a head coach he’s accountable to.
Exactly, Chance.
So I guess we know who’s e-mailing Bill Young.
Umm sorry but that South Carolina video was about the cheesiest thing I’ve ever seen. You win a game you’re supposed to win at home and you make some cheesy highlight video with music that sounds like it belongs at the end of a WWII movie?? Gag me… OSU cinematic football highlights are fine the way they are.
Definitely over the top for one game. Do that at the end of the season, but not for beating Georgia at home. Please. They were a missed pass interference penalty from losing to Vandy.
love the gamecock video. I couldn’t care less about S Carolina football but the video gave me chills
So how is Iowa St. in the Blog Poll, but Texas Tech, who beat them handily, in AMES no less, is not!? Do we so easily rank only on this week and completely forget last week?
The Carolina video was done by someone not involved with SC’s athletic department, unlike our own cinematic highlights. Carolina football has paralleled OSU football a good bit (1 Heisman in the 80s, not much success until recently), and their program is reaching a point they’ve never been at before, much like where OSU was at last year. I would be willing to bet there are videos like this out there for our Cowboys. I felt it was a tastefully done FAN-MADE video that showed the tremendous skills of the maker. There’s nothing wrong with a fanbase celebrating success they’ve never seen before. Was it a little over the top for one game? Maybe, but if you listen to what Spurrier said, that game marked things they’ve never done before. I don’t see a problem letting them bask in their glory for a bit.
