Sixth Round Stud
Sixth round feels low for Taylor and easy reasons can be given to have drafted him higher.
Taylor had an outstanding 2016 season, ranking fourth among interior defensive linemen at 89.8 overall. His pass rush productivity of 13.6 ranked second in the draft class (43 pressures on 252 rushes). [ProFootballFocus]
In the world we live in where pass rushing is king, you’d think the second most productive interior pass rusher would have went higher. Maybe they got caught in the debate of proven production vs. ability to develop. But backing up Ndamukong Suh isn’t a bad gig.

Multi-Sport Draft
An astonishing number of athletes played multiple sports, something Gundy really likes in future Cowboys.
The team at TrackingFootball.com, which helps coaches track data, put together the numbers, determined that 222 of 253 picks (87.7 percent) played multiple sports in high school, whether that was basketball, baseball, track and field or something else. A year ago, the number was 88.5 percent of picks with multi-sport backgrounds, and it was 87.5 percent in 2015. [CoachingSearch]
Nearly 90 percent is a vast majority – indicating there’s something about the intelligence/flexibility to play multiple sports is an indicator for success. Gundy particularly loves wrestlers, talking about the great discipline they’ve learned. There’s a chance one will have to come in and suit up immediately.
