Football News
OSU No. 21 in the first AP Poll of 2016. How does that compare to other years? [PFB]
Joe Bob Clements on his DTs: “I feel like I have more numbers to play with this season than I’ve had at any other point in my career.” [NewsOK]
Good stuff from Mark Cooper here on how OSU has started recruiting Louisiana more heavily. [Tulsa World]
Austin Hays on his WRs: “Obviously, everybody knows James (Washington’s) ball skills are out of this world as a big vertical threat. You’ve got Marcell who can go up and make a play at any point. Then you’ve got Jalen (McCleskey), the little quickster. You’ve got people like me and (Dillon) Stoner who are route runners and catch the ball well. I think we have a really good overall collection of talent.” [NewsOK]
Big 12 QBs are impressive despite not being highly-recruited: Despite the huge magnifying glass on Texas signal-callers, the better ones are often not the top-rated kids and the two highest rated passers here consist of a North Carolinian (Mason Rudolph) and an athlete who’s now moving to receiver (Jerrod Heard). [Football Study Hall]
Kevin Henry on what’s going on in his home state of Louisiana right now: “I’ve talked to my family and they all good. We’ve lost a few houses because of the water, but the water level has gone down so we’re seeing all of the houses and seeing all the cars. As far as people I went to school with, they lost a lot because that is where the main flood was.” [Go Pokes – $]
Recruiting News
Robert Allen on Tyron Johnson: “Johnson has good guidance. In fact, it is one of his guides that he can thank for pointing him in the direction of Stillwater because a little over two years ago Johnson and his father, Tyrone, pointed J.J. McCleskey and his son, current Cowboys slot receiver Jalen McCleskey, in the direction of Oklahoma State.” [Go Pokes – $]
In Stillwater, players remain the best recruiters. [PFB]
Around the Country
Notre Dame booted a senior safety. I’m sure Brian Kelly was completely calm and nuanced about the entire incident. Wow. [Yahoo]
Other Sports
This is impressive.

I linked this yesterday, but it’s worth doing it again. So good.

Woooooo.
If Texas was a university maybe they could trade a few golds in for a QB. https://t.co/fdJlC3kn5k

This was a real comment yesterday on the Bullets!
Picking up [Thomas] Fleming was perhaps the greatest coup in OSU reporting I’ve seen in years. Pistols Firing is loading up with the best writers that can synthesize actual football analysis. Hopefully you help Fleming to continue developing into by far the most insightful, technical OSU football analyst. It’s beautiful for finally have someone that reports on the X’s and O’s.
I could not agree more.
