The Spring RB Situation
It’s going to be very interesting.
With the three senior backs gone, Hill sitting out the spring, and exciting recruits like Canadian speedster Chuba Hubbard and Georgia standout J.D. King yet to arrive, that means that the spotlight and the reps will go to junior-to-be Jeff Carr, red-shirt freshman and very promising talent La’Darren Brown, talented walk-on Ja’Ron Wilson, and NEO A&M J.C. transfer and Coweta High School product Jakeem Johnson. [Go Pokes – $]
It’s possible — probable? — that RB1, RB2 and RB3 for OSU next year will all miss Spring Ball. Justice Hill is out with injury and Chuba Hubbard and J.D. King are still in high school.
Mickey D Success
Berry Tramel looks at a history of McDonald’s All-Americans who have come to college in Oklahoma. Pokes have had a pretty good success rate.
Eleven of those McDonald’s all-Americans have signed with OSU or OU in the 2000s, which gives us a decent amount of data on which to gauge Trae Young.
For the most part, the McDonald’s all-Americans have panned out. Some have been stars, many have been program cornerstones and none have been washouts, unless you consider leaving after a solitary season a washout. [NewsOK]
OSU and NCAA Notes
Two in-state offensive linemen it would be fun to get … FloWrestling offering refunds for mad wrestling fans (good for them) … Ohio State coaches used private planes provided by the school for personal vacations totaling $220,000 last year (legally).
