Breakfast Baseball

Would you like some OSU baseball with that Hoboken coffee? Pokes-Mountaineers at 9 a.m. this morning. OSU had the day off yesterday as WVU beat Tech in 10 innings on Friday. WVU scored more in the 10th inning against Tech than OSU has given up this entire week.

It’s a little positive and negative,” said Cowboys catcher Colin Simpson. “It’s nice to stay in a rhythm on the field and keep playing games. But it’s also nice to have an off day to recover and get your body back to 100 percent.” [NewsOK]

“The vibe is really good. Guys are going out there just playing,” said pitcher Tyler Buffett, who picked up the win against the Mountaineers. “I think it is just something you can’t really describe. It is something that you feel and we’re feeling it right now.” [Tulsa World]

You can watch the game online at Fox Sports Go. It will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest.

Mullet Madness

I know some of you have mullet fatigue, but Jenni Carlson notes that the Gundy’s hair is going nowhere.

The Mullet isn’t going anywhere — except maybe further down Gundy’s back — and frankly, I can’t see why anyone who bleeds orange wouldn’t be on board. The ‘do has been nothing but good for the Cowboys.

For starters, here we are at the end of May talking about OSU football. Yes, things are a wee bit quiet around here since the Thunder took an early exit out of the NBA playoffs, but The Mullet has reach beyond our fair state. [NewsOK]

I agree with this. In a world where differentiation is paramount for recruiting and relevance, Gundy has figured out how to play the game.

Here’s to Hoping

As Jake Trotter pointed out, the top 10 recruits in Texas remain uncommitted. Tom Herman is on a war path, but hopefully OSU can step in and swipe one.

(Texas is) off to an impressive start in 2018 with six ESPN 300 commits, including quarterbacks Cameron Rising and Casey Thompson, but it will be the Longhorns’ ability to keep the best in-state recruits that will ultimately form the storyline. Entering June, the top 10 ranked prospects in the state remain uncommitted, with Texas currently in position to perhaps win five of those. [ESPN]

OSU And NCAA Notes

Has West Virginia figured out the Big 12 recruiting landscape? … Mark Titus doesn’t love Jawun Evans’ body fat … OSU is off to a good start at Rich Harvest Farms (remember: four rounds and the top eight teams move on) … According to Robert Allen, OSU has four more recruits in the fold this year than they have at this time in any of the last six years.

With another two on Friday, OSU now has five bids in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

LOL!

This is significant.

Pretty sweet.

This is also awesome.
