Awesome win over UConn last night, but I can’t do these 8 p.m. or later games much longer [looks at schedule, sees UNC-OSU at 9:30 p.m. tonight].

Tyrek Coger Still Remembered

Tyrek Coger grew up with Rodney Purvis who played for UConn on Monday night. They actually lived together as kids.

Purvis said, “I know the coaches at Oklahoma State have stayed in touch with my mom, making sure she was okay, and I really appreciate those guys for that.” Purvis changed from No. 44 to No. 15, with Kemba Walker’s blessing, to honor Coger, who was to wear that jersey for the Cowboys. Purvis lost another close friend, LaQuan Anderson, who was shot and killed in Raleigh in August. Purvis tried to block it out and throw himself back into his life at UConn. [Hartford Courant]

I feel like Brad Underwood and Co. have handled the Coger tragedy as well as anyone could. And I would be remiss to say he didn’t have an excellent example in Travis Ford who did the same with the plane crash in 2011.

Baylor Cannot Get Out Of Its Own Way

Weeeee!

Baylor Associate Athletic Director Heath Nielsen, 47, is free on bond following his arrest earlier this month on a misdemeanor assault warrant stemming from an attack on Nov. 5 in which a sportswriter was grabbed by the throat and pushed away from a player after the Bears’ 62-22 loss to TCU. [KWTX]

Couple of things here: Don’t take photos with players if you’re a writer/blogger/journalist or literally anyone with a credential. That’s a joke. Second, don’t choke people!

Texas, Fight

Berry Tramel sounds off on UT.

The burnt-orange mess might look amusing on this side of the Red River, but Sooners and Cowboys alike should be concerned. The Big 12 is at its best when the Longhorns are playing great football, and with the way Texas is handing this situation, you have to wonder just how far away gridiron greatness might be in Austin. The Plan For Thanksgiving Week

Good details here by Robert Allen.

Gundy complimented the players for the effort and playmaking they did in the game at TCU and then he moved on to outline the plan for his players as they will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, both practices in helmets, shoulder pads, and shorts or sweats. They will not bang around but will focus on mental preparations and looks they expect to see against Oklahoma and also put in some work on a few areas of the Cowboys offense, defense and special teams that need a little shoring up or polishing. The emphasis will be to continue down the path that they have gone down. [Go Pokes]

Gundy has managed his team beautifully this year (and most years). If you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time, you know how big I am on that stuff. Thankfully this time around, they actually have almost everyone healthy.

But Bedlam Next Year

Oh boy.

Keep in mind also that Mayfield and Rudolph each has one remaining season of eligibility. If each decides to stay at his respective school instead of entering the NFL Draft, the 2017 Bedlam game could be a match of quarterbacks armed with a combined total of more than 80 starts. [Tulsa World]

Thankfully that game will be played in early October because the Big 12 won’t want an instant Big 12 title rematch. I’d hate to see it build up for another 11 games like it did this year.

Texas has a great home game experience?

No.

Texas Memorial Stadium has one of the great home field advantages in college football with the Longhorns winning 80% of their home games. [Go Pokes]

Texas at No. 2 and Oklahoma State at No. 5 behind Baylor. Real life?

Twitter friend is selling this gem.
