Wrapping up Central Michigan (if that’s even possible at this point)

My 10 Thoughts on the game. [PFB]

Wow! Berry Tramel calls for CMU to give the game back to OSU. We tend to acquiesce to authority, so when conferences say the ruling stands, the ruling stands. But the revelry is gone. The cigar doesn’t taste quite so sweet. And the play Central Michigan never will forget came in a game it knows it didn’t win. [NewsOK]

Here’s why the final play never should have happened. [PFB]

Guerin Emig says you have to look internally to find blame. But don’t you dare absolve the second guilty party in Saturday’s crime: the Cowboys themselves. Not so much because of mistakes made on the Central Michigan’s gifted play, which was more divinely-executed than poorly-defended. Because of everything that led to it. [Tulsa World]

Good call here by Berry Tramel. This is OSU’s second non-con home loss under Mike Gundy. The other was against Houston in 2009. This is the first I have ever covered. [NewsOK]

Even Robert Allen thinks OSU needed to play better. However, in the end, even with a travesty of the rules, Oklahoma State did need to play better. They must play better going forward or lose games without rule screw ups. Central Michigan played pretty good as an underdog in a hostile environment and benefitted from the worst officiating screw up since the Colorado-Missouri 5th down debacle. [Go Pokes – $]

Mike Holder said the entire thing was “incomprehensible.” [PFB]

Jalen McCleskey on dedicating his TD to Tyrek Coger: “Every moment you have, don’t take it for granted. Cherish every moment. At the end of the day, anything can happen. It can be your last down of football, anything. Just cherish every moment.” [O’Colly]

Crying Jordan Gundy is pretty amazing. [PFB]

Mike Gundy on Dillon Stoner in the wildcat: “We felt like we had to use that scheme that we had practiced. At times, when you practice something, you’ve got to use it. If not, don’t practice it. That’s really what it came down to. … He is a true freshman, but he’s a little different than most true freshmen. He’s pretty savvy and has been around a lot.” [Tulsa World]

The official who called the game admitted his error. [PFB]

CMU coach John Bonamego on the play: “There are two schools of thought. If you throw it in the end zone it becomes a jump ball. But if you can get the ball completed [short of the end zone] and run at the defense, then you have a chance to get it going with a lateral and a run. They [the Cowboys] were playing everybody deep along the goal line … it’s one of those plays that you see run half a dozen times any given weekend in college or the NFL at the end of a half or end of the game, but most of the time it doesn’t work.” [ESPN]

Who do we ultimately blame? This will be an interesting discussion later today. [PFB]

Jordan Sterns on the loss.

Around the League

TCU, OSU, OU and Texas Tech have all lost now. Whooo boy. [Yahoo]

Speaking of Tech — they gave up 8 TD to one running back? What? [Yahoo]
