Le’Bryan Nash Leading BJ League in Scoring
Le’Bryan Nash: Rookie phenom for the Fukushima Firebonds.
He started the season off hot, scoring 31 or more points in each of his first five games, including a 47-point breakout in the fifth game.
18 games into the season, and Nash is now leading the BJ league in scoring, averaging 26.4 points and helping lead the Firebonds to a turnaround this season after finishing with a 21-31 record last season.
“He’s been a huge part of our team,” Fukushima coach Hiroki Fujita told the Japan Times. “His scoring ability, his ability to change the dynamics of the game has just totally been huge for us so far this season.”
Nash also is playing with a little bit of fire and added motivation. “I think I should’ve been in the NBA, but all I can do is prove myself and show them that they made a mistake,” Nash told Hoop Scoop.
So far, he seems to be headed for an all-time great BJ league season after being named the October MVP.
“I know I’m a topic of everybody’s game plan being the leading scorer of the league, and I’m just trying to take on the challenge and help my team win games . . . and just be the best player I can be and try to have an MVP-type season.”
