Oklahoma State Falls To Arizona, Gets Rematch On Saturday
Oklahoma State gave up more runs to Arizona in nine innings on Friday than it had in 63 prior postseason innings to Nebraska, Clemson (2x), South Carolina (2x), UCSB and Arizona combined in its run to within three wins of the national title.
The Pokes fell 9-3 to the Wildcats on Friday (they had previously given up six runs in seven games) after getting a pretty poor outing from freshman Jensen Elliott. OSU’s No. 3 starter went just two innings and gave up five hits and three runs. OSU could never get the bats going — they went 4-30 at the plate, and, you know, it was sort of just one of those days.

The Pokes were predictably upbeat afterwards, but tomorrow is going to be interesting. Arizona is running thin on pitching as this will be its fifth game in eight days, but OSU hasn’t exactly shown a propensity to feast on weak arms. Thomas Hatch should get the bump for Josh Holliday’s crew so maybe you only need one or two or three runs for him.
I know there’s nobody else you want with the rock and a three-game championship series on the line starting next week. I just hope the bats come alive enough for them to get there.
