Oklahoma State Gunning for Just Third 11-Win Season Ever
When OSU and OU lace it up on Saturday night in Boone Pickens Stadium, the Cowboys will be looking to do something they’ve only done one other time in the regular season in their 114-year history of playing college football and only two other times including the regular season and postseason.
Win 11 games.
The 2010 team led by Brandon Weeden did it by beating Arizona in the Alamo Bowl. The 2011 team did it by … beating OU at home to win the Big 12 title after a brutal loss. They went on to win No. 12 in the Fiesta Bowl later that season.
A win would also match a school record for most home wins in a single season with six. It would also mark the sixth time in the last eight seasons that OSU has won at least six home games.
It would be the first time OSU has beaten OU in two straight seasons since 2001-2002.
“We’ll try to stay focused on the task at hand,” said Mike Gundy earlier this week. “The good news is that everyone in the state will be excited about the game this week, and I can’t imagine that our players won’t stay focused, prepare and play well on Saturday.”
