Poll Results: Jalen McCleskey Voted Most Important Role Player For OSU

Published

on

The people have spoken, and somehow Donald Trump is president Jalen McCleskey was voted as the most important person to Oklahoma State’s success going forward between him, Chris Carson and Jordan Sterns.

I was obviously excluding stars like Vincent Taylor, Mason Rudolph, Justice Hill and James Washington and including maybe that second tier of dudes like these three.

I actually disagree with the majority here. I think the answer here is Jordan Sterns. My man T-Bone hit on it in the comments below, but the dropoff from Sterns to his backup is far greater than from McCleskey to his backup or Carson to his backup.

We saw that in the Iowa State game when Sterns didn’t play. OSU’s defense didn’t have its usual soul that he provides. That’s not something I want to experience over the final three games.

On to the comments!

Zach Fast: Realistically, people are starting to key onto Justice Hill, while he will still be great, I think Carson will start to get a lot more valuable as the season continues with his ability to create yards after contact and block.

ATown Poke: Sterns and McCleskey already make a big impact for us. The emergence of Carson could be a game changer for this offense. #VoteCarson

Orange Tuono: I went with Carson since he has shown that he can change the complexion of our offense with his ability to bruise out yardage. I absolutely LOVE how all of our running backs always fall forward these days.

It’s the obvious choice, but Rudolph has the biggest impact ability in every game for us. With our amazingly talented Receiver/CwB squads, Rudolph can make the difference for us with literally 1 or 2 passes each game – be in Ints, 3rd down incompletions, or spot on back breaking TD throws.

T-Bone: I looked at who we can’t do without. If Carson is out, we have other options at RB. If McCleskey is out we have other options at WR. If Sterns is out, we don’t have anyone to fill in for him.

I would add that depth is needed late in the season. We don’t have good depth at safety. That makes Sterns the most important to the success of this team going forward.
