The Five Best Oklahoma State Uniform Combinations
We already looked at Nos. 6-10 as well as the five worst combos. Today, I wanted to look at the five best uniform combinations Oklahoma State has worn up until now. Let’s get right to work.
5. Black-Black-Orange
I have this rated higher than most. It just pops to me for some reason. I’m not affected by whether it’s the normal black helmet or the crazy-eyed Pete (like it was against Kansas State). It’s been discussed at length, but I’m a huge fan of the 1-1-2 hat-shirt-pants look or the 1-2-3 more than I am the 1-2-1.
4. White-White-Black
If they ever wear this one with the throwback bucking bronco helmet, I’m out. Desmond Roland and Justin Gilbert really made this combo zoom with the orange undershirt look.
3. White-Black-White
Now we’re entering sacred territory. This one has always been good, but the new-look helmets against Baylor in 2013 for the rout in Stillwater was seriously next level. I can be convinced that there’s not enough orange here, but that’s picking nits.
2. Black-White-Orange
My secret favorite part of Bedlam last year is that these get the green light from now on. The 2011 loss in Ames has been erased by what was probably the craziest win of the Mike Gundy era.
1. Gray-White-Orange
I sort of hope we never wear these again. Critically acclaimed (by, uh, me) and wildly unheralded, they’re like the indie movie that’s actually good but never becomes popular (I have no examples here because I have kids and I’m not cool). The only sports comp I can give is the early 2000s Suns. Nobody will remember them as the best ever, but in the moment, they were on another planet.
