Winners: Big 12 aficionados, Alabama (Purdue lost to ND by three!), Clint Chelf, Heart of Dallas (great performance), everybody that beat OSU this year (they look really good now), QB ratings, Bill Young’s stock, J.W. Walsh (winning me over).

Losers: everyone who woke up, B1G football, college football lovers (eight months of darkness), ACLs, Joe Randle fans (he’s gone), Gundy’s future OC (he thinks calling plays is easy now), Cotton Bowl vendors, fans who had to watch on TV (the awful announcing was chart-topping).

Uni Heisman: I’ll let Quinn have it. I don’t think he’s ever won it and the all-black with white kicks was pretty good.

Best play: probably the best play of Isaiah Anderson’s life.

Best player: Chelf, he was terrific. Of course, it’s easy to be efficient when nobody on the team you’re playing has ever broken five in the 40.

Best quoteShoot, I’m going to coach until someone tells me I can’t. -Bill Young

Best photo: The one up top — that small man in the middle next to the kid in the orange hoodie makes $3.5 million to tell 19-year-olds where to run. Crazy.

Tweeter of the game: Andrew Mitchell won this with one tweet at the very end of the game…

Stat of the night: Hard to overstate this, but pending the Ole Miss/Pitt game — OSU is now the all-time college football leader in bowl win percentage. Like, including all the teams.

“KD lookalike” award: Mr. Gundy…

  1. Chelf obviously learned his fist pump from Weeden.

  2. Every oSu fan should be a fan of Walsh, that kid can play! I’ve heard a lot of people say he can’t pass that well, to which I would say maybe you can’t spot a good passer when you see one. This kid, IMHO, can be as good if not better than Johnny Hidesman.

As for Randle, he’s not going anywhere. He’s projected as 7th best RB prospect so he’s look at 3td~5th round, not much money there. I think Jeremy Smith projects to be a better RB in the NFL, Randle’s downfall is he’s not as physical as Smith yet doesn’t have the speed to get through the tiny holes provided by O-lineman in the NFL. But I could be wrong on all this. ;)

  3. I like Walsh as our QB next year, the kid has fire and a spark about him. He is a gamer and you can tell he loves football.

  4. Winner: stats that won me tix to the game – thanks Kyle!

Loser: the PA announcer. Someone said it best that it sounded like the late Big Tex was doing the call. Worst ever

    • Amen.. Reminded me of Dan Ackroyd driving the car up & down the beach in Blue Brothers promoting his show. The guy even had to apologize to the ref’s. Too slow for Big 12 play — He didn’t finish announcing one play before the next play started.

LOSER: HoD ticket sales – They placed a couple of dozen OSU fans (including some Band Parents) right in the middle of the section where they set the Purdue Band. Then they basically told the folks “Your on your own”. Good news – way over half the delapidated stadium was empty.

  5. I heard the PA announcer (who was beyond bad) WAS the guy who is the voice of Big Tex.

  6. You know that “kid in the orange hoodie” is Gundy’s oldest son, right?

  7. Why be so kind to stadium. Its a wreck. Bathrooms are disgrace well I only went to three and each seemed worse that the previous one if possible. Vendor that was closest to my seat had no beverage service after halftime as his equipment broke down. All in all needs much improvements in the facility to make this a good place for fans to go for the game. I don’t know who owns the stadium, but they are close to being unfit for human use. Should spend some money on the stadium and less on publicity and they would sell more seats.
Have relatives in Dallas who would not go to the stadium to the game when I offered to get them tickets. My seat was alright as it was on the isle level and an end seat. The Drunk “lady” behind me in Purdue colors was somewhat distracting. Though her language during the first half was the saltiest I have heard including 30 years in the service and multiple tours in combat zones. He pounding on my back when Purdue finally scored was also a turnoff. If she had been a man I am sure she would have been removed. Game staff only cautioned her so the next touchdown she beat on the person beside me.

Love the Cowboys and Mike Gundy Now if we can just improve next year. 9-0 in big 12 would be about right LOL.
