The Reload: OSU Offers Two Basketball Transfers
The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap catching you up to speed with the latest Oklahoma State recruiting news, with an ear to the ground for what to expect.
Pitt basketball transfer Cam Johnson offered by OSU
Among those interested in landing the services of Pitt Panther transfer Cam Johnson are Oklahoma, UConn, Butler, Penn State Illinois, Rutgers, Creighton and Oklahoma State, according to a report from Rivals. He’s got upwards of 20 offers.
The 6-foot-8 shooting guard will graduate from Pitt, meaning he will be eligible immediately for a final season of eligibility. He averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last season. Johnson would be able to play immediately.
Miami (OH) transfer Michael Weathers offered by OSU
A day after OSU hired his former head coach as an assistant, Oklahoma State offered a scholarship Michael Weathers — the reigning MAC freshman of the year and highly sought after transfer name. Weathers averaged 16.7 points per game last season and has a brother transferring from Miami as well. His brother also averaged double figures last season.
Because Weathers is not a graduate transfer, he would be forced to sit out the upcoming season.
DeShaun White — Outside Linebacker
After missing out on three-star linebacker Byron Hobbs, who pledged to Texas this week, Oklahoma State extended an offer to Richland High’s DaShaun White — a 6-foot-1 prospect with 13 offers and counting.
White has offers from Texas A&M, TCU, UCLA, Ole Miss and OSU, all of which have poured in during the 2017 calendar year. He is a 2018 prospect.
Jase McClellan — 2020 Running Back
Oklahoma State is offer No. 10 for 2020 Aledo running back prospect Jase McClellan, a bonafide star in the making with offers already from Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and more.
McClellan is not yet ranked, but it’s not likely he will be until after the football season because scouts likely haven’t seen him in action. But at 5-foot-10 and 194-pounds for a soon-to-be-sophomore, he’s going to be a highly rated prospect. So OSU is getting in on him early.
JW Hertzberg — 2020 Quarterback Visit
OSU’s had pretty good success with one South Carolina quarterback recently, and it hosted another on campus this week for an unofficial visit in 2020 QB prospect JW Hertzberg.
So Grateful to the OSU Coaches for an incredible day! @CoachGundy @CoachBarrOSU @CowboyFB_Elite @Rudolph2Mason pic.twitter.com/n9GMucFmHi
