Uniform Review: Oklahoma State Near Perfect Against TCU

Published

on

Ed. Note: Sorry this post is a week later than normal. Southwell was questionable last Monday and eventually ruled out. Back at it this week, though.

I will be grading OSU’s uniforms each week using a criteria consisting of five categories.

Four of the five categories are on a scale of 1-5. The helmet will have its own rating; aesthetics will be a rating of the flow of the uniform as a whole; the intimidation factor will simply be how intimidating the uniform looks; the accessories will be a rating of the gloves, socks, shoes, and sleeves. Additionally, the Cowboys get a point for winning. A perfect score is 21 points for the GOAT.

Helmet (4)

Remember when we wore this helmet and James Washington had nearly 300 yards receiving? How about the time the defense held the opponent to six points on the road? The more we wear this helmet, the more I like it. It’s clean. It’s sharp. It appears to have the same grade as the Orange Chrome helmet, but I like the White Marshal Badge helmet a lot more. It’s not quite a 5 for me, but it might become that if we keep winning big games in it.

Aesthetics (5)

White–White–Black is a clean look, and looks so good with black numbers. It’s a top five look as far as white jersey combos are concerned. I think part of the reason this combo looked so great was because of the black face mask on the white helmet, but the biggest reason it flowed well as a whole is because the accessories tied everything together.

Intimidation (5)

It’s a good balance of white and black. Maybe there isn’t as much orange as some fans would like, but it’s definitely something Oklahoma State needs to wear from time to time. Also, I’m relieved that they didn’t have gray pants like the what came out on the graphic. It would have been a major downgrade for this combo even though I’m a big fan of gray.

Accessories (5)

It’s pretty awesome that you can wear anything white or black and it will look great with this combo (even white towels paired with black pants). Mason Rudolph wore black half sleeves and I think that’s the best look with the black jersey accents.

Chris Carson had long black socks that went well with the pants. Justice Hill had the white gloves.

Win (1)

Purple teams are 0 for 2 against Oklahoma State when wearing camouflage against the Cowboys this year.
