Bedlam Could Feature Two Best Offenses In Big 12

Mike Yurcich is going to dine on honey-glazed ham and heaps of turkey on Thursday and feel delight in his belly and joy in his heart after looking at these numbers. His much-discussed offense has once again risen in our weekly points per drive peek, and now he might end up with the second-best offense in the league behind OU.

The Cowboys have overtaken Baylor and have Tech in their sights (Tech has Baylor this week so it’s possible they could drop before Bedlam happens). OU is probably out of reach, but this is a renaissance for a Poke O that was pronounced all but dead early in the season.

“It’s kind of fun to watch those games now,” said Mike Gundy after beating TCU on Saturday. “In this league we see so many of the other, and it was real chess match going on in the 1st half with all four staffs going against each other – offense/defense, offense/defense … and I enjoyed it. I thought we made great adjustments at the half. It’s just nice to watch a game played like that.”

Yes it is. Especially when OSU is rolling along like it is. National update: OSU is No. 17 in the nation in PPD on offense. Down from No. 16 last week.

Oh, Texas Tech. OH, TEXAS TECH! Even Kansas and Iowa State have made themselves respectable. And how about West Virginia taking innumerable blows from OU and still remaining under 2.0 PPD on defense. Oklahoma State is inching towards that 2.0 mark as well from the other direction. For reference, the Pokes gave up 1.29 PPD on defense in probably their best defensive year in history.

And now our weekly look at where OSU’s offense has been after each Big 12 game. The growth continues. The ground game is back. Yurcich is rolling. OU gave up over nine yards per play to West Virginia on Saturday. Bring on Bedlam.
