Amazing.
Still no mention of the #okstate atmosphere/crowd noise by @espn announcers @espnbob @stephenbardo ???
— Big D (@OSUMaverick) February 21, 2013
It really was. Epic crowd.
This is fun. GIA is locked-in. #okstate

I laughed at this.
Is Kevin Young the worst player in KU history?
— Matt Amilian (@mattamilian) February 21, 2013
We’ve all been there.
I just dropped my phone because of Marcus Smart. Just cold dropped it on the floor.
— Brian Phillips (@runofplay) February 21, 2013
This is true.
Bill Self tried to go “2 for 1″ but Cobbins rejected the idea! Was a good coaching move, though.

Most clever tweet of the night?
Withey hedges screens almost better than Boone hedges funds…
— jamie wheat (@jamiedonwheat) February 21, 2013
More awesome.
Just got multiple texts calling my brother out for staring at the cheerleaders during that entire last timeout. Glad he’s locked in.
— Nolan (@nolancox) February 21, 2013
Wow, he does.
Brian Williams looks dead on like Kevin Sumlin
— Doug Gottlieb (@GottliebShow) February 21, 2013
All-time Manzer tweet.
Manzer is having the worst game of his career over there at the scorers table. Won’t matter because I’ll probably be dead before this ends.
— Nolan (@nolancox) February 21, 2013
Too bad this tweet wasn’t about the last play.
Markel Brown with a big-time shot over one of the nations best defenders.

Hilarious.
Sean Sutton just passed out

Yes, they are.
The kids….are getting it.QT @brandonwilken: Section 310 is literally shaking beneath my feet.

On Marcus Smart’s long-distance heave.
LOL RT @mcmurphyespn: Last time I saw an Oklahoma State ball travel in air that long Brent Parker dropped it in end zone

Gottlieb Show coming at my wife! (not really)
@pistolsguy emptied the lane -Smart going right with Withey on ball screen defense?it was actually a good idea, better defense
— Doug Gottlieb (@GottliebShow) February 21, 2013
Nice.
That was the loudest I’ve heard GIA in a long time. Awful loss – but so proud of those students. They brought the rowdy.
— brooke clay (@brookeclay) February 21, 2013
Indeed.
Silver lining: Tyshawn Taylor’s mom wasn’t there to flip everyone off.
— Kevin Davis (@kevindavis31) February 21, 2013
Yeah it wasn’t ideal.
That was awful. I’m embarrassed for the Cowboys & their coaching staff. All that time and you draw up … ‘Marcus, good luck!’
— Jason McIntyre (@TheBigLead) February 21, 2013
Haha, good stuff.
I’m not even in the state of Oklahoma and I’m pretty sure I just got whistled for fouling Withey.
— Nolan (@nolancox) February 21, 2013

even the studio analyst “former coach” (I’m not sure who he was) pointed out that it is not necessarily a good play, but that it is a trendy play in college ball. Why bring an extra defender in on that play? Smart would be able to get a shot off of Elijah Johnson without the screen. If Kansas helped as Smart gets to the basket you dish to whichever player who was freed up to cut to the basket, and bam, game over.
Good atmosphere tonight. Finally I am seeing GIA the way it was when Eddie Sutton was coach. It is VERY clear that OSU lives and dies with Smart in the game as they finally ran out of steam against a good KU team when Smart fouled out of the game. I think the officials called a decent game until the 2nd overtime when all of the calls seemed to go KU’s way – about 70% warranted though. I can admit when I see a true foul but to foul out on a ticky-tack call is crappy. KU escaped with a win tonight because they got all of the calls down the stretch. I will say that despite the loss, tonight’s game was one of the best I have seen in a VERY long time and likely the first of the Travis Ford era. A couple of more seasons with games like this and maybe fan confidence will finally return to GIA.
The reason you bring a ball screen on that play is pretty simple. You set the on ball screen with whichever big man Withey is guarding in order to pull the 3rd leading shot blocker in the country away from the basket. Withey just hedged well and Smart didnt have the same ability to turn the corner with a bum wheel.
The best one I read was when the KU guard took 4 or 5 steps driving on Forte in the lane. Someone (I don’t know who) tweated: “Even the NBA refs would have to think about calling traveling on that one…”
