Big 12 Conference Championship Bedlam Game at 11:30 a.m., Here’s Why
After the Big 12 and FOX gave Bedlam a “11 or 2:30” window a few weeks ago they actually decided to make the game at 11:30 a.m. and put it on FOX instead of FS1.
This game will serve as the de facto Big 12 title game, and I sort of understand why they are doing this. The reasoning stinks for us, but it makes sense nationally.
The Pac-12 Championship game is that Friday night (December 2). The SEC Championship is at 3 p.m. on Saturday (December 3) and the ACC and Big 10 Championships are at 7 p.m. (December 3). The Big 12 is assuring that its “conference championship” stands out from the other four.
You certainly don’t want to stick it at 2:30 and let it go up against Alabama-Florida. And you probably don’t want it going against the two-headed ACC/Big 10 monster either.
Does is suck that the only available time is 11:30 a.m.? Yes it does, but on a day when two of your teams might be playing to get in the College Football Playoff, you sort of want it to stand alone (even if it will get the worst ratings of all five of the Power 5 title games).
