Well, well, well…
As first reported by Robert Allen, Bobby Reid has been hired by Mike Gundy to as a football administrator under director of operations, Mack Butler…
…and it’s not even Gundy’s most surprising hire of the month!
Pretty interesting move to bring on the guy who said this about Gundy’s rant “defending” him:
Honestly, the way I took it, I felt like it was all a front. That it was all a big show. It didn’t feel genuine.
When that rant happened, I was like, ‘Blugggh, I don’t think this is for me anymore.’
[it] basically ended my life.
And Reid’s mom:
Being 40 doesn’t make you a man. It’s your character that makes you a man. Your integrity. That’s what makes you a man. Not how old you are. I read a Chinese proverb one time in a restaurant, and it said, ‘A fool at 40 is a fool always.’ That tells you everything.
That “fool” is now her son’s boss.
To their credit, Gundy and Reid did apparently make peace over the matter.
And now he’s back on board. I don’t ever want to see a picture of him anywhere near Wes Lunt.
“In Gundy we trust”…but, wow.

Perhaps BR went somewhere else and figured out MG really did have his back and if that’s the case what better recruiter than someone that can go into a home and say “I’ve lived it, he does care; I’ve been elsewhere and they just talk”.
Strange but true. Bobby Reid is from the Houston area and may help immensely with recruiting that area. The last paragraph in the Tulsa World article is a premonition. Odd hire but I can see the positive spin. Bobby Reid was very talented just didn’t quite work out for him here.
On a side note, I was at that miserable game at Troy in the rain. That is pretty much where we bottomed out as a program. Oh how things have changed.
Wow, this is the weirdest story of all. Like ever, about the OSU program.
Wow this is flat out bizzare.
I cannot believe this hire. I was about the furthest thing from a Bobby Reid fan in 2007 and not a fan now. Hopefully this hire has stipulations that include 1) Bobby Reid is not allowed near any quarterbacks & 2) Bobby Reid agrees to not think about the quarterbacks for the remainder of this contract….
Dude… Relax… They didn’t hire him to be the offensive coordinator
I wonder what a “football administrator” does.
I don’t think this is that surprising at all. They kissed and made up. It happens. Welcome back Bobby.
Well all I can say is I hope he brings something to the program. I will not judge him on his performance when he was here before. He is matured now and hopefully will help our team to greatness. As to what he does I am sure the Head Coach and his contract spell out his obligations to the program. He could be a plus, but I will adopt a wait and see attitude.
Boomer!!!
Stealer….as in Land!
I guess that means I didn’t get the job.
Welp…
It’s all part of the Mike Gundy Entertainment Package….I’m starting to get use to the decisions he makes that initially appear, somewhat odd, or strange, then likely as not tend to pan out as the season progresses. He’s not like most Division I head football coaches (how many B12 coaches go out with their wives after home games to visit with the tailgaters without a security entourage in tow?)…he’s also not above extending a helping hand to folks from time to time which might be behind this particular situation. In the end, he’s “our” Coach Gundy and I’m pretty good with it….
My dad told me, “You’ll never guess who Gundy hired.” So, I preceded to try to guess … Cale Gundy, Pat Jones, Zak, Rob-Rex Ryan, Bob Simmons, Nathan Simmons … Brian Kelly. Bobby Reid was not in my first 100 guesses. Good luck to Bobby! I hope it works out.
My Bobby Reid’s back and your defense is in trouble, hey now, hey now……
Where are all the ESPN trucks?
Thankfully he is out of eligibility.
