Bowl Projections For Oklahoma State With Three Games Left
Oklahoma State has just three games left in the season, and it is finally time to start looking at some bowl projections. Doing this exercise in September seems silly and in October seems premature, but it is finally the middle of November and time to start dreaming (or nightmaring?) about the future.
Here are projections from all the major outlets.
ESPN
Russell Athletic vs. Florida State
Russell Athletic vs. Virginia Tech
CBS Sports
Russell Athletic vs. Florida State
USA Today
Alamo vs. USC
Fox Sports
Russell Athletic vs. Virginia Tech
Sports Illustrated
Russell Athletic vs. Florida State
What I think
Alamo vs. Utah
What I hope
Sugar vs. Auburn
Most outlets presume Oklahoma is going to win the Big 12 and Oklahoma State is going to finish third behind OU and West Virginia thus the Russell Athletic Bowl appearance.
Side note: How much does it tell you about the Big 12’s current state that the Russell Athletic Bowl is our third-best non-CFB Playoff tie-in. My gosh.
But West Virginia still plays four difficult games. OU and Baylor at home. At Texas and Iowa State. Are they really going to finish second in the Big 12?
I think Oklahoma State actually gets to 7-2 in conference play with a loss to OU and finishes second or tied for second in the league. Even if WVU ties them, is the Alamo Bowl really taking West Virginia over an Oklahoma State team that hasn’t played there in a while? No.
So I think OU goes to the Sugar and Oklahoma State goes to the Alamo. I think Washington somehow misses the playoff and goes to the Rose Bowl which would theoretically bump Utah down to the Alamo. That would be a fun game. Utah is good.
My dream of course is for OSU to win out and make it back to NOLA ahead of OU. I’ve been clamoring for a tilt against Auburn for a while now, and this would be a great setting for it. Whoooo boy I’m getting sweaty just thinking about taking on another SEC team in New Orleans. I want it all.
