Brad Underwood Lands First Commitment as Head Coach
Oklahoma State got big news late Tuesday evening with the announcement that 2016 point guard Brandon Averette, a former Stephen F. Austin recruit, has committed to the Cowboys.

Averette is a 2016 recruit who had signed with SFA, but just days ago announced that he was backing off his pledge and re-opening his recruitment. The 5-foot-11 point guard from Richardson, Texas, held just one scholarship offer, the Lumberjacks, before his offer and pledge to the Pokes.
Averette is an excellent slasher on the court, with a supreme ability to get to the rim and finish down low. He has good touch from outside, too. As a senior at Richardson, he averaged 22.6 points and 6 assists per game and showed he can play both as the primary ball handler and off the ball in a two point guard system if the Pokes wanted to play fast with Evans and Averette.
His frame is good for a point guard but he will almost certainly need to pack on a few pounds before he can make an immediate. Regardless, Averette is already an elite ball handler with really good vision as a floor general in the half court. All the qualities you want in a point guard.
