Chris Lacy Has Another Career Game, Helps Cowboys Blow By TCU

Published

on

One week after Chris Lacy recorded his first career 100-yard game, the junior receiver bested himself with a four catch, 109-outing in Oklahoma State’s win over TCU on the road.

His mix of strength, athleticism and speed make him a nightmare cover, especially with opposing secondaries so worried about James Washington.

The past four weeks have amounted to the best stretch of Lacy’s career at OSU. Against West Virginia he had three catches for 31 yards but had two huge touchdowns that helped the Cowboys get their homecoming win.

Against Kansas State he had another efficient three catches for 33 yards on four targets. On one drive in the third quarter, Lacy had an 11-yard play and then a 17-yard play that was immediately followed by Austin Hays’ touchdown catch which pulled the Cowboys to within two points of the Wildcats.

Of course, last week Lacy’s four catches for 100 yards led the way for a one-point Cowboy win on senior night. He followed that up with four catches on five targets including that 30-yard acrobatic sideline grab that he followed up with his third touchdown of the year.

He was Mason Rudolph’s go-to target on Saturday as he was largely guarded by freshman Jeff Gladney for most of the day. Mike Yurcich and Co. took advantage of the frosh. Rudolph went to him over and over again, and it was clear that was the plan throughout.

Lacy had a number of acrobatic catches in the career day and this lone TD (the go-ahead TD, as it turned out) at the end of the first quarter.

Then to put his final stamp on the night, Lacy had this 63-yard play where he dragged a defender almost 15 yards toward the end zone.

With defenses keying in on James Washington, guys like Chris Lacy, Jalen McCleskey and Jhajuan Seales have become crucial to OSU’s success in the passing attack. Now he and his team will have a week off to prepare for a Bedlam/de facto Big 12 title game in Norman.
