Cowboys Wrestling star Alex Dieringer up for Best Male College Athlete ESPY
Former OSU wrestling star, 2016 Dan Hodge Trophy recipient, and three-time NCAA champion Alex Dieringer is up for the prestigious award of Best Male College Athlete at the ESPY’s this year.
Dieringer, who ended his Cowboy career on a remarkable 82-match winning streak, capped it off with a 6-2 win over Wisconsin’s Isaac Jordan at the 2016 NCAA Championships in New York City in March.

Winning in 2016 was nothing new for Alex. He was just the 14th Cowboy to win four All-American honors in his time in Stillwater, and just the 16th all-time Cowboy wrestler to win three national titles, as well as winning the Big 12 every year of his collegiate career. His senior season, Dieringer went an astounding 33-0 with 12 pins, 7 technical falls, and eight major decisions.
The link to vote for Dieringer is here. Other contenders for the ESPY’s Best Male College Athlete are Derrick Henry (Bama), Buddy Hield (OU), Jordan Morris (Stanford Soccer) and Jarrion Lawson (Arkansas Track & Field). Get out and vote, Pokes fans!
