Cowgirl Tennis Knocks off No. 10 Baylor, Begin Title Chase
The No. 7 Cowgirls took a big first step Thursday in defending their Big 12 Title by eviscerating No. 10 Baylor 4-1 at the Greenwood Center for both team’s conference opener. The ladies won their 12th doubles point of the year and carried over the momentum into singles play where they led or won on five of six courts. Coach Chris Young was quite pleased with his ladies, but knows the challenges that lie ahead.

“We are excited to enter into the conference portion of the season,” Young said. “I felt last year we played our best in conference play and it has prepared us well for the post season. This year, our non-conference schedule has us prepared and I believe this is the best the Big 12 has been since I’ve been here. We know we have the target as the team to beat so each time we have to compete at a high level and I know this team will do that.”
Coach Young is certainly correct in saying this. Here’s a glance at the rigorous conference schedule the Cowgirls will face this season.
