Yes, all of this. Every bit of it. (NewsOK)

Mark Schlabach has OSU at #16 in his preseason top 25 for 2012. I think that’s a pretty fair spot. (ESPN)

Brian Phillips with a gorgeous piece on why OSU should have played for the title (hint: it was simpler than you think). (Grantland)

Meanwhile OSU isn’t in somebody else’s top 20. (The Big Lead)

Cool, Gene Wojciechowski calls OSU fans “honks.” (ESPN)

Nobody from OSU is on the early preseason Heisman odds list, though Joseph Randle should be. I’ve got large amounts of fake money on De’Anthony Thomas at 25-1. (Kegs N Eggs)

Ubben has OSU 5th in his early 2012 power rankings. (ESPN)

Wow, just wow. (Morning Joe) (Via Blake Huddleston)

Fascinating stuff here from Vegas. They say LSU would be a 4-point favorite over OSU and Bama a 6-point favorite. (ESPN Insider)

OSU is still targeting some big time recruits. (NewsOK)

Baylor’s coming folks, my only question is if Briles can sustain the Heisman momentum for the next five years. If he can, because I think he’s a good coach, the Big 12 is going to be disgustingly good. (Rivals)

Nice, love John Holcomb:

Not sure if anyone noticed the comparisons but Bob Stoops took over OU in 1999 and won the NC in 2000. He has been back several times but hasn’t won since with his own recruits. Les Miles takes over LSU in 2005 and won the NC in 2007. He has been back but hasn’t won once with his own recruits either. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I honestly think they’re both top 5 coaches in the country. I see the correlation but just to get back to the title game (win or lose) is an unbelievable feat in this day in age…

    • Chance

It seems like a large number of coaches win within their first few years, many the second year, and I don’t know why that is. Meyer, Stoops, Miles, I think Tressel and Carr were fairly new at their jobs. Not sure why, because those guys are great recruiters.

      • Something Witty

Maybe it’s because the “better recruiting classes” are full of under-achieving, attitude-problem-having, twitter addicts. Maybe the three star recruits of the world are actually better long term?

  • Jeremy

West Virginia is next years Texas A&M. Does anyone remember they lost to Syracuse this year?

  • Justin

Anyone else think its ironic and awkward have the advertisement for Ford’s show in the middle of footballs laundry list of awards?
