The Big Cheese
Mike Boynton talks about being head man in the office.
“I don’t have to ask permission as much. I get to make decisions on when we’re going to practice. How we’re going to practice. How we’re going to function as a unit. The style of play. That’s pretty cool to have those decisions on my plate.
On the flip side, I have to answer to those decisions. We’ll get to that down the line. But that’s probably the biggest difference. [NewsOK]
Boynton just sounds like a guy that’s having a blast with his job – and still processing the immense responsibility. He watched Underwood learn the ropes as a first-time head coach at Stephen F. Austin and adjust to the challenges of the Big 12 at Oklahoma State.
It’ll be a growing process as he adjusts but not one devoid of a solid example and enthusiasm.
Senior Year
Robert Allen has found a parallel we all hope to come true: deja vu for Mason with his senior year in college matching his senior year in high school.
It was 15-0 in his senior season in high school at Northwestern. No hype, just coincidence and maybe, a little more of that parallel. If Oklahoma State wins all their regular season games, wins a Big 12 Championship Game, and then wins two games in the College Football Playoff that would add up to 15.
Here’s to senior seasons and those that prepare hard for them. [GoPokes $$$]
Mason played on a veteran team that was able to put it together and make a run for the state title. It’s hard to imagine a relative upstart like Oklahoma State knocking out the college football “have’s” but not because there’s not a quarterback in Stillwater that’s talented enough.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Cowgirls lost to Florida, beat FIU, back today for a rematch with Florida for Regional Championship….The Pokes have a top five offense (don’t look at No. 1)….ACC revenue dropped $30m in 2016….USC’s Coliseum sold naming rights to a super popular company….Georgia now has a DJ spinning in their locker room….Star Wars is cool for recruiting now?
Big time weekend for Cowboy Baseball with the Saturday sweep.

Hugh Freeze isn’t likely to get sassy with Gundy anytime soon.
