Wrapping Up KU

10 Thoughts on the win in Lawrence. [PFB]

Good news here on the five sacks QB1 took: “I didn’t feel it at all really today. None of those shots were really collisions at all. I was able to protect myself.” [NewsOK]

Devante Averette on the defense’s early struggles: “We just gotta get adjusted. That’s all. They brought a new quarterback in and had a little new system for him. Once we figure out what they’re trying to do, we shut their favorites down.” [O’Colly]

Here’s a sobering statistic: After allowing five sacks Saturday, Oklahoma State is on pace to surrender more sacks in 2016 than it did in 2014. In 2014, OSU struggled for a long stretch in a 7-6 season, allowing 40 sacks in total. With 23 through seven games, OSU would allow 43 this year. [Tulsa World]

Mike Yurcich is apparently a big Chris Carson fan: “If Chris had the 22 carries, could he have had the numbers? For sure. When a guy’s been out for a significant period of time, like Chris has, you gotta make sure you ease right back into it. I think you’ll see a lot of successful offenses with two good tailbacks. You play them both. That’s what you do. Unfortunately, we can only snap it with one football, but there’s enough carries to go around.” [O’Colly]

Gundy on Grogan getting the all-time scoring record: “I was happy for Ben Grogan becoming the all-time leading scorer. That’s a great accomplishment for him. He’s a great young man, a hard worker, self-motivated.” [Tulsa World]

Jordan Sterns on the defense: “We started off a little slow as a defense. The 11 o’clock games can do that to you. After we got back out there in the second half, we did a lot better job.” [NewsOK]

We did a postgame show to wrap up the game on Saturday. [PFB]

More Spencer: “We talked about it at halftime. Guys, we’ve got to set up. The offense is struggling, we’ve got to set them up with a short field. That’s why it’s a team win. Again, it’s a bunch of garbage when people try to say offense did this, defense did that. You have no idea how it works together, no idea if you’re talking like that. We worked together and had a great win at a place that’s not easy to play, and that’s really — I don’t know the last time I was up here and we had separation like that before.” [Tulsa World]

Photos from Lawrence on Saturday. There are some great ones. [okstate]

Notebook on OSU-Kansas. [PFB]

Gundy on Justice: “He is exciting and can make guys miss. The difference between this year and last year is our ability to run the ball when (defenses are) protecting against the pass.” [NewsOK]

This is incredible.

Here’s the DQ Osborne return. [PFB]

On The Blizzard’s return.

Yes.

QB1.

The Piesman moment

Here’s the Piesman (fat guy Heisman for the uninitiated) moment from Vincent Taylor and Co. [PFB]

And here’s the Piesman love from SB Nation. [SB Nation]

Jordan Sterns on the play: “It was fun. You could feel the energy after that play. Vince goin’ out there, pitching it back to Jarrell, and then Jarrell gainin’ some yards, havin’ some swag to us, some moxie.” [O’Colly]

Around the Country

I was legitimately scared for A&M on Saturday. [Big Lead]

Charlie Strong, gone. [ESPN]

Good stuff here on Ryan Broyles’ next career as an analyst. I love Broyles. Still think one of the great “what ifs” is if he had come to OSU and Dez had stayed his senior year. Weeden throwing to Blackmon, Dez and Boyles. I’m weak. [NewsOK]

OU-Tech was completely drunk. Good recap here by my man Chip Patterson. [CBS]

Pokes In The Pros

Great profile here of Antonio Smith. “I love H-town, it’s like a home away from home, but I have my ranch and family in Oklahoma. I’m an Oklahoma boy to the heart.” [NewsOK]
