Doug Gottlieb Eulogizes Brooks Thompson Perfectly
Doug Gottlieb did a really great job eulogizing Brooks Thompson in a Facebook post last night after the former Poke passed away. He told the Joe Adkins story (more here), talked about how Brooks and Randy Rutherford were besties and said Brooks had considered giving up coaching for ministry. Here are a few snippets.
Brooks always wanted to be the head coach at Oklahoma State, and when his dreams were dashed this year by his team struggling, he offered any and all support to me. That is the kind of guy he was. Brooks told me his number 1 goal was to be back in Stillwater with his family, cause OSU is home. I wanted to make that happen for all of us.
On behalf of every one of my Cowboy teammates, our hearts go out to Michelle and the girls. We loved Brooks and will honor the great father he was by picking up the torch as a family and helping out. Brooks cared about us and we care about his family. As you close your eyes tonight or read this in the morning, know that Brooks Thompson, lefty, scoring point guard from Littleton,Colorado, was loved by many and left this life far too soon. Rest in Peace Deuce Deuce.
