Dutch Center N’Guessan Is Headed to Stillwater
The OSU men’s basketball team got some very good news on Wednesday. Incoming freshman Center Lucas N’Guessan, who played at Canarias Basketball Academy last year in Spain, is on his way to Stillwater and has enrolled in classes for the fall semester. Since committing in May, there had been little talk of the 7-footer’s eligibility, so the first hurdle has apparently been cleared. The next step will be for the NCAA to rule N’Guessan eligible to play — a process that could still take several more months to play out.
I wrote a little bit about the effect Lucas N’Guessan could have when he committed back in May, but there is little to be seen or read about in regards to high school career. Underwood’s signing of N’Guessan showed that the new head coach is willing and able to recruit internationally, an exciting prospect for Cowboy basketball fans. While we don’t know if N’Guessan will be deemed eligible by the NCAA and will likely need a year or two of development as he adjusts to the college game, any size is welcomed on a roster with only one player 6’9 or taller.
Here’s some footage of the new Oklahoma State Center, who seems to be fairly mobile and athletic for his size.
More to come on Lucas N’Guessan’s NCAA eligibility status, but in the meantime, the Cowboys added some much needed size at the center position.
