Emmanuel Ogbah Was 14 Minutes From Being a Dallas Cowboy
The Dallas Cowboys were sitting there with the third pick of the second round needing a defensive end with good value. Emmanuel Ogbah was just sitting there at the end of the first day of the NFL Draft wanting to go to a good team with a shot at winning.
It almost happened.
But then Cleveland, of all teams, stepped in and screwed it up. The Browns selected Ogbah with pick No. 32, two spots in front of Dallas selecting Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith.
Jerry Jones’ son Stephen was asked if Dallas wanted to draft Ogbah instead. He gave a surprisingly transparent answer (for the NFL anyway).
“Yeah, but it doesn’t mean we still wouldn’t have tried to get right back and get Smith,” Jones told the Dallas Morning News. That’s the NFL equivalent of saying this was definitely going to happen.
???
Ogbah sounds genuinely excited about Cleveland though.
“It feels like a family atmosphere, just like Stillwater,” Ogbah told ClevelandBrowns.com. ““It feels like everybody’s real close with each other. You could tell a change is coming. That’s what I feel, too. I strongly believe that and we’re ready to make that change.”
