Four-star DeSoto Receiver Names OSU in top 5 schools
Oklahoma State has had a great deal of success recruiting Texas, and one school the staff consistently has recruited well is DeSoto High School. Just last year’s 2016 recruiting class included two prospects from the Texas powerhouse: Cornerback AJ Green and running back LaDarren Brown.
And OSU is once again in the hunt for another DeSoto product in standout wide receiver KD Nixon, a consensus four-star prospect. Nixon, a former Tennessee commitment, backed away from his pledge to the Vols at the end of June, and is showing some interest once again in the Cowboys after having considered them in his top schools before making the early commitment to Tennessee.
Nixon has visited Stillwater before and, being from DeSoto, it’s a very short drive relative to other schools in his focus.
“My top 5 is Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Oregon. If I have to go top 8, it’s A&M, Illinois, Texas Tech,” he told Scout this weekend.
As for the biggest factor in his recruitment, it’s all about relationships for Nixon. “Just keep building relationships, staying in touch, and just worrying about finding the best fit for me as a player.”
Nixon is listed at 5-foot-8, 182-lbs., but can stretch the field with his 4.57 40-yard dash time and has proven to be a productive member in DeSoto’s crowded group of talented receivers. Oklahoma State would do well to slide him into the slot or anywhere in the receiving core. Any way to get him the ball seems to work — just get him in space and with his slippery athleticism and quick feet, he can make plays all over the field.
