Four-star Shooting Guard Names Oklahoma State in Top 5 Schools

One of South Carolina’s highest rated basketball prospects has narrowed down his list to five, and Oklahoma State is squarely in the mix. Sharp-shooting Devontae Shuler released his list of schools on Thursday evening and named USC, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miami and OSU in his final list:

Shuler plays for Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, but is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, so it’s no major surprise that the Gamecocks are considering the favorite in his recruitment, and will host him for an official visit this weekend.

During his time at South Carolina, Lamont Evans, who is now on Oklahoma State’s staff, was Shuler’s primary recruiter. So the transition appears to be seamless and interest obviously mutual; enough so that he is expected to make an official visit to OSU next weekend, per 247sports.

The versatile, two-way guard is a high-flyer wh0 plays with an attitude and sense of purpose; when he’s not in attack mode, he can gauge the defense from deep with his pure outside stroke and silky mid-range game.

On Team CP3 in the Nike EYBL this summer, Shuler averaged 11.2 points per game and helped lead his team to a 14-2 record. He closed out the Nike Circuit shooting 50% from the floor and nearly 40% from three, while playing alongside one of the nation’s top 5 prospects in Wendell Carter Jr. and top 100 point guard Lavar Batts. He held his own quite well and proved why he deserves the attention of high level Div. I programs like Oklahoma State.
