How Good was Chad Whitener Saturday?
With the announcement that Ryan Simmons had suffered a season-ending injury, his replacement, Chad Whitener was forced to step up and fill a pair of very large shoes.
On Saturday, Whitener made his first career start as a Cowboy after a performance against K-State in which he lead the team in tackles. He came away with another big performance in Morgantown, finishing the night with 11 tackles, a recovered fumble, and a forced fumble – all game-swinging plays that helped a struggling offense stay in the game.
“We do this for Ryan Simmons,” Whitener told the O’Colly. It’s originally his defense, and I’m just trying to step in and do my best.”
