How OSU Could Take Advantage of Ole Miss NCAA Charges on Recruiting Trail

Published

on

A report from Yahoo on Friday citing multiple sources indicate that the NCAA has formally charged Ole Miss for dozens of rules violations in three sports, one of those being football.

Oklahoma State was blown out in the Sugar Bowl earlier this season, however they could actually benefit from Ole Miss now with just days away from national signing day. Multiple OSU targets are now Ole Miss commits, or leaning towards Ole Miss. With the uncertainty regarding Ole Miss’ status and just how brutal the NCAA punishments will be, could that lead recruits in the direction of OSU?

Here are a couple of prospects to keep an eye on.

D’Vaughn Pennamon – Running Back

Pennamon was a top target at running back earlier in 2015. Oklahoma State gave him the full court press, but he ultimately opted for the chance to play at Ole Miss. Pennamon has 23 Div. I scholarship offers according to 247sports, and a 4.48 40-time according to his HUDL account. Bottom line: At 5’11, 220-lbs, he would likely be a freshman contributor for the Pokes and would make a lethal freshman combo with Booker T. product Justice Hill.

Quartney Davis – Wide Receiver

Davis has just recently picked up his communication with the Pokes after having been a long-time Texas A&M commit. He made an official visit to Stillwater just weeks ago, and following his visit to Oxford last weekend, some analysts had Davis trending towards Ole Miss. But he’ll make his final official visit to Texas A&M this weekend, then make a decision. If Ole Miss doesn’t steal him, it sounds like it could be a 50/50 toss up between his former pledge and the Pokes.
