Igor Ibaka Will Transfer From Oklahoma State Which Might Leave Open Spot To Fill
Serge Ibaka, gone. Kevin Durant, gone. Igor Ibaka … gone?
According to the Tulsa World, it’s true. There had been whispers of this happening ever since Serge got traded, but Mark Cooper scooped it officially on Thursday and OSU confirmed.
Ibaka, the brother of Orlando Magic and former Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka, was not at practice with the rest of the team this week as a new summer session began. The program confirmed he will look to transfer.
Igor had posted this message on his Instagram page whenever Serge got traded for Victor Oladipo and Co.
I will truly miss you brother everything happens for a reason you are great and no matter where you are you will shine keep focused and continue to get better they have the best coming their way good luck on achieving all your goals
The most interesting part about all of this is what it means for the 2016-17 season. OSU will have a scholarship spot open unless Lucas N’Guessan qualifies (which seems a little unlikely at this point). OSU had to know when it signed Tyrek Coger a few weeks ago that either N’Guessan would not qualify or Ibaka would leave (or both).
It also seems unlikely that OSU could add anything substantial for the upcoming year, but they did just that a few weeks ago by snagging graduate transfer Coger. My man Kyle B. pointed out to me that adding another grad transfer like this is far more likely than getting someone still unsigned from high school on July 7.
Either way, this is not necessarily terrible news although Igor would have been a nice body to have around. He only played in seven games last year, and wasn’t supremely promising.
Also, this tweet made me laugh.
did presti include him too?
