Oklahoma State came out guns blazing in the first half, with the first play from scrimmage going 91 yards for a Rudolph to Washington touchdown connection. James Washington and Mason Rudolph were the clear headliners of the first half, with Rudolph going 20/30 for 372(!) passing yards and Washington being on the benefit of most of those, finishing with 228 receiving yards going into the break.

Even more encouraging, there was an actual appearance of an actual #runninggame, with Rennie Childs making a big play that went for six with on a 67-yard dash:

Best first half summary: Total offense against Central Michigan: 338. Total offense in first half against Pitt: 467. It was all about the explosive plays in the first half.

However, the second half … An entirely different story. After a 31-point first half outburst in the first half, the Cowboys put up just two scores and struggled offensively. Namely, Mason Rudolph struggled to find consistency once again, despite finishing with 540 passing yards.

After the rain delay, Oklahoma State blanked Pitt the rest of the way, holding them scoreless in the fourth quarter. And it was the defense that came up big when OSU needed it most. Rudolph connected with Jhajuan Seales for a huge gain that set them up for the game-winner, that Rennie Childs ultimately punched in.
