J.W. Walsh Recruiting New 2018 OL Offer Darrell Simpson

Oklahoma State extended an offer to one of the top ranked offensive tackle prospects in Texas on Saturday – a soon to be SOPHOMORE Darrell Simpson.

Simpson visited Stillwater on Saturday and came away with his second Div. I scholarship offer, both coming from the Big 12. The 6-foot-7, 310 lb. prospect already holds an offer from Kansas, and more schools are likely to hop on board soon.

“It was a great visit,” he told Scout of his time on Saturday. “I had the opportunity to meet with offensive line coach Greg Adkins, cornerbacks coach Tim Duffie, and head coach Mike Gundy, who made it feel like I was back home,” he said. Took a tour of the facilities and the campus, which was impressive. I was impressed with academics being important and not just being an athlete.”

He also got a chance to be recruited by the man himself, J.W. Patton. “I also had the chance to speak with J.W. Walsh, the quarterback, and he advised me it was a great school and he would love to see me attend Oklahoma State University.”

Although Simpson is a Texas resident, he is a Stillwater native who was born ‘right by Boomer Lake.’

Simpson has the prototypical size and frame of an elite offensive tackle already as a sophomore, so it would come as no surprise if some of the other schools in the Big 12 jump on board. He has interest from OU, Baylor, Michigan, and more; OSU is doing their early evaluations to try and get in on the young man early in the process.

If you were to pick any player to recruit for the program, Walsh has to be No. 1 or pretty darn close to the top. No one bleeds orange harder than Walsh, and I can only imagine that recruits would respond positively to his outlook on the program.
