James Washington Could End This Year as the 4th All-Time OSU Receiver
After a career-low one reception for nine yards last week in Lawrence, it may seem like a questionable notion. But James Washington has a pretty good shot at ending his junior season fourth in all-time receiving yards at Oklahoma State.
Here’s a look at the current leaderboard
- Rashaun Woods – 4,414 yards
- Justin Blackmon – 3,564 yards
- Hart Lee Dykes – 3,275 yards
- D’Juan Woods – 2,751 yards
- Dez Bryant – 2,425 yards
- James Washington – 2,283 yards
Washington is just 142 yards behind Dez Bryant and 468 behind D’Juan Woods. Of course Dez only played three games as a junior.
To pass Woods and crack the top four, Washington would need to average just over 78 yards per game the rest of the way, assuming the Cowboys play a bowl game.
That’s not hard to imagine since he was averaging 121.8 yards per game coming into the Kansas. Another thing working in his favor is Washington’s average of 19.3 yards per reception which is over two yards better than any of the receivers above him on the list.
Let’s hope last week was an aberration and the coaching staff can find a way to get their best player some more touches against West Virginia on Saturday.
Mason Rudolph said that would be the case this week.
“[Bracket coverage has] been happening all year and he still gets production,” Rudolph told the Tulsa World. We’ve got to find better ways to get him the ball and we will.”
