Jawun Evans’ Phone Wouldn’t Stop Blowing Up After Bedlam

Jawun Evans score the third-most points in a college basketball game by an Oklahoma State player ever on Wednesday night in Bedlam.

That will apparently make your cell phone go a little nutty.

“(Trending on Twitter) was really cool,” he said. “My phone was freezing. I was getting so many text messages, and Instagram and Twitter notifications, there was a lot going on. I couldn’t sleep because my phone kept vibrating.”

Pretty cool (although somebody might need to show him where the off button is?) The number that sticks out to me more than any others is Evans’ 18/31 field goal mark. That’s an astonishing number for a non-big man. It’s the second-most in OSU history in a single game and the most in the country this season.

“I was just playing basketball and trying to help my team,” he said. “That’s all.”

Evans’ 42 point-game is the second-best ever by a freshman in Big 12 history. Here’s a look at all the players who scored 35+ in conference play only.
