Junior College Cornerback Visits Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State has a handful of young talent at cornerback on its roster for the upcoming season. Madre Harper, A.J. Green, Rodarius Williams are all second-year players expected to make an impact in 2017.

Looking past this season to 2018, OSU is already looking to put experience alongside that young talent, and its currently targeting a junior college prospect to fill that need in 2018’s Delrick Abrams Jr. of Independence Community College. He made an unofficial visit to Stillwater this week.

Abrams Jr. is a rising prospect with offers now from West Virginia, Arkansas, Southern Miss, Mississippi State and others. He’s a Bogalusa, Louisiana, native, so the chance to play closer to home — particularly for Arkansas, Mississippi State or Southern Miss — could be a big factor.

Abrams recorded 17 solo tackles, 30 total tackles, and 3 interceptions as a freshman last season. He says he’s working on refining his game before he takes it to a Division I school in 2018. He started every game for the Pirates.

“I’m working on reading the QBs shoulder,” Abrams told the Recruiting News Guru recently. “I’m also working on my hips, coming out of breaks faster, and attacking downhill better. I want no hesitation. I just want to play the game full-speed.”

Abrams will be a mid-year graduate from junior college, so he will be eligible to graduate in December and essentially become an early junior college enrollee at his next destination.
