Junior College Point Guard Names OSU in Top 5
Just before Oklahoma State lost the verbal commitment of three-star point guard Amauri Hardy on Thursday, junior college prospect Corey Davis — who is drawing heavy interest from Oklahoma State — named the Cowboys in his list of top five schools. Davis is a 2017 prospect current playing for San Jacinto College who averaged 17.2 points and shot better than 46 percent from the three-point line last season.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore did not hold a scholarship offer from OSU when I spoke with him earlier this week, but he believes he might before it’s said and done. And Hardy’s de-commitment could certainly help usher in an offer.
“I’m almost sure [Mike Boynton] will offer me,” Davis said. “It’s just a matter of us communicating and learning more about each other and for me, about the program.”
Davis is a self-described “tough-nosed” point guard with a strong ability to score and dish at a high level — nearly every quality needed to compete at the highest level. As a junior in high school, he averaged 36 points per game, which earned him a scholarship to his in-state school of Louisiana-Lafayette, but was ruled academically ineligible.
Davis is also considering Houston, Arizona, LSU and New Mexico State.
