Marcus Smart Fined $15,000 for “Obscene Gesture”
The NBA announced on Monday that Celtics guard and former OSU standout Marcus Smart has been fined $15,000 for making an obscene gesture on the basketball court earlier this month.
According to the release by the NBA, the incident occurred with 1:49 left to play in the third quarter in what turned out to be a 105-104 win against the New York Knicks at TD Garden.
The NBA did not elaborate on the nature of the “obscene gesture”, but greenstreet.com cites that “With 1:49 left in the third, Smart was called for an offensive foul and grabbed his crotch. That move prompted a technical foul called by referee Marc Davis. ” Here’s the graphic:
