Mason Rudolph: ‘We Just Control What We Can Control’
Mason Rudolph was 17/34 for 207 yards and a TD and another 23 yards on seven carries (and 2 TDs) on the ground. It was a good (not great) road performance for QB1 who moved to 21-5 as a starter and 15-0 against teams in the Big 12 not named Baylor.
He spoke with FS1’s Bruce Feldman after the game about what made OSU click on offense and what his thoughts are on the CFB Playoff rankings.
“I think our defense played great all day got us a lot of key turnovers there in the second half,” said Rudolph. “Really proud of those guys. You know, combine that with running the ball for over 300 yards was big time and really proud of those guys up front.”
He’s right about the rushing. It was just OSU’s fifth 300-yard game on the ground since 2010. An incredible performance by all parties, and Justice Hill and Chris Carson were magnificent. Rudolph was pretty strong with his legs as well as he scampered for one TD and bulled his way to another.
He now has these stats on the year:
- 64% completions
- 326 yards per game
- 29 total TDs
- 4 INT
He’s also approaching the rare 4,000-yard club through the air. He needs around 500 yards in Bedlam and the bowl game to join Brandon Weeden as the only two OSU QBs to ever do it. And about that bowl game (and backdoor CFB Playoff appearance).
“You know I think we just control what we can control,” said Rudolph. “We played our butts off and you know really, really proud of our team and we’re looking forward to going into an off week, getting healthy and playing for a Big Te….Big 12 championship. That’s all we’re worried about.”
The Freudian slip was terrific. The 10-1 record even better.
