On Saturday, Oklahoma State picked up a commitment from long-snapper prospect Matt Hembrough. A Naperville, Illinois prospect, Hembrough filled in PFB on his recruitment, why he picked OSU, and his thoughts on Mike Gundy’s mullet. Catch up on our interview with him below, and follow him on twitter if you’re interested.

Q: Being from Illinois, how did Oklahoma State come into play in your recruitment?

Obviously, being from Illinois, the last place I thought I would be going to college at was Oklahoma State. However with the help of my long snapping instructors, Nolan Owen and Matt Wigley, I was put into contact with Coach Hauser. (OSU’s offensive GA and Special Teams Coordinator.)

Q: So what are your thoughts so far on OSU based on your visit to Stillwater?

I have vistited twice now and loved it both times. The football facilities are incredible, but on top of that, the academic aspects of the school were just as impressive. I also felt like I was at home when I walked around campus and really loved the sense of school pride within the community.

Q: Have you decided on a major?

Right now I want to go into Business, but I am not sure what specific major I will choose.

Q: What are your thoughts on Mike Gundy’s mullet? Fan or not a fan?

Definitely a fan! I think it’s fantastic. I actually watched the interview he did with Barry Melrose earlier this week where they discussed the “Arkansas Waterfall.”

Q: They don’t require long snappers to grow out mullets or anything, right?

[Laughs] I don’t think I could pull that off. It takes a special man to do that.
